Fall Conference in Los Angeles

Manual Arts High School
Over 550 students, educators, veterans, members of military families, and community activists gathered at Manual Arts High School in Los Angeles on November 19, 2005 for this exciting and productive conference. Highlights included:
Iraq war veterans and members of military families who boldly called for sharp action to stop the war
High school and college students who gave strong and well-informed presentations in workshops and plenary sessions
Scathing denunciations of U.S. imperialism and its ravages in Iraq and Afghanistan, offered by John Bellamy Foster, Sonali Kolhatkar, and David Bacon and others
Filmmakers who showed their amazing documentaries (some not yet released!)
Soldiers Speak Out
Sir No Sir!
Iraqi Labor Tour
Arlington West
Over thirty lively and well-attended workshops on topics including
Counter-recruitment and fights against campus complicity with the war
Military and veterans' issues
Organizing against the war budget and cuts in social services and education
Strategies for building, broadening, and deepening the anti-war movement
Links between racism, sexism, and the war
Anti-war pedagogy, and opposing the ideologies that support the war
Hip Hop Against the War
And much more!
Networking, making new friends, connecting with old friends, meeting others from the same school or campus, and committing to continue the work of

And a CALL FOR ACTION during the week of March 19, 2006
